Vita
Aurelia Maria Frederike Nostitz, born in Berlin-Mitte, in 1982.
Growing up in Berlin-Mitte and Berlin-Marzahn, she became interested in the visual arts early on. The father worked in the art and culture scene of the former GDR, at that time sculpture and drawing, the figurative art, were in the eye of her interest. During childhood and adolescence, she practiced these disciplines. The performing arts were also part of her interest and occupation during her school days. The desire to make art and to study art was dominant throughout cildhood and youth.
After successfully completing a High School to Art School
course at P.S.1, MOMA, NY, USA and graduating from high school in performance course art, personal/family circumstances led to contrary decisions and to taking up medical studies.
At the age of 40, she resumed her passion and made the decision to fulfill her dream and the desire of her inner child to create art. At this point it is abstract art that appeals to her and that she has the urge to implement.
Painting, making art is a need for her, a need to find peace and inner happiness. It is the process of creation that brings a sense of inner peace and satisfaction. Expressing herself through color, shape and texture calms and soothes her mind.
Her work is about creating tension and contrasts through colours, movement and form. She wants to capture and reproduce the transitions and transformations of life, the ambivalence and tensions, but also the synchronicity of everyday life.
She uses color to express moods and emotions as well as movement. She uses intense colors and strong contrasts, which mirror the intensity and the depth of her feelings. In her pictures, intent and coincidence lead to the determination of the work of art, as a reflection or in synchronicity with real life. In which the reality of each individual also arises out of intent and coincidence. With all the possible consequences and outcomes. Intuition, intuitive painting is an important part of her work.
Aurelia Nostitz has been living in Bavaria with her son since 2013.
